Help A Reporter Out or HARO as it is more commonly known, is the brainchild of Peter Shankman. It is currently a free service that provides small business owners an email 3 times daily that includes a list of queries put out by jounalists and editors for stories they are working on.

From the HARO website:

Help a Reporter Out helps editors and reporters locate authors and other subject area experts willing to be interviewed for articles, books, blogs, and podcasts. Once you register–for free–you will receive up to 3 e-mails a day, each containing up to 10 detailed queries from reporters looking for individuals willing to be interviewed.

If you’re a journalist looking for individuals to interview, visit the press page at www.helpareporter.com/press and submit your query. Your query will go out to over 20,000 publicists, small business owners, and other professionals and experts in all walks of life, increasing the chances of you finding that hard-to-find source pre-deadline.

If you’re a source, simply sign up for the 3x per day newsletter at www.helpareporter.com

  1. HARO is GREAT! Peter’s emails have helped me publicise myself and my business motivational book, Boss of Me!, in business blogs and recently, Think Big, an Australian magazine, has expressed interest in doing a book review after I contacted them.
It’s the best way to get information on the media to brand and promote your company! Highly recommended.
