Great, you have entered the world of blogging! You have a blog, you have made some posts-now what? It can be overwhelming trying to get visitors to your blog, there is a lot of competition out there!

This post is geared towards those using Wordpress, since that is my platform of choice, but should be pretty open to other platforms as well, each platform should have similar plug-ins to achieve the same results.

Here is a list of how-to’s to help you achieve maximum success in getting traffic to your Wordpress blog!

Submitting your Blog: Submit your blog to websites like Digg, Reddit and other blog style news directories. You may not see immediate traffic from these sites, but when included in these directories there is a better chance of being found by the million or so users of these network.

SEO Happy Links: Did you kow that the title bar is one of the most important parts of any web page? This is the uppermost bar in your browser window that tells you what a page is about. Wordpress out of the box does not offer a search engine friendly title bar so we highly recommend the All in one SEO Pack plug-in. This plug-in will allow you to create posts and then add in your relevant keywords and title bar for maximum SEO. This is an easy to install plug-in that will help you with organic searches!

Make Google Love You: Wordpress offers a great plug-in called Google Sitemap XML, another must have! This is a very simple plug-in that builds a specially coded piece of information that allows google to easily view all of the information in your blog. Your sitemap will be updated every time you make a post which will bring back Google to see what is new. A simple installation for a lot of exposure!

Share The Love: The purpose of your blog is to get more readers right? Well, then you want to make it as easy as possible for your readers to share your posts with others or on social networking sites. By using the Sociable plug-in, you will provide your readers tiny icons on your posts that will allow them to just click a button to share where they wish! With sites like Twitter, Stumbleupon, Facebook and so much more already included, you will allow your readers to spread the word with ease!

Twitter Dee Twitter Dum: I previously wrote a basic tutorial on the world of twitter, how to start with it and what it can do! If you were smart enough to jump on the twitter bandwagon, then this Twitter Tool is for you. It will create an integration on your blog from your twitter account allowing blog readers to see your Twitter posts. Just another great way to spread the word!

So that is all I am going to share for now! I know this can be overwhelming, but these 5 suggestions will be sure fire ways to get your site seen! Know, once you get those visitors, it is up to you to make them stay and want to make them come back for more…which I will share tricks on in another article!

  1. You can even go on the INTERNET and find thousands more all over America who would gladly perform web design services for you. Some will charge you several hundred dollars, at a minimum, while many will want several thousand to create and put up your site. But, and this is the important part, not one out of a hundred of them will know anything about building you a website that gets you into Google\’s top rankings.
